Character Analysis
Hugo Boss is a Social, Challenging Mix
The social horse is an interactive creature - very interested in the world around him. The official greeters in the equine world, they show more interest in their human's arrival.
He is challenging, but with more of a sense of humour than the less social types. They are not so aggressive in group turnout or herd situations and readily form equine friendships. They differ from the purely social horse in that when they get stressed or pushed, they are more likely to push back or make a definite and clearly readable effort to make themselves comfortable again.
Out in the paddock, they still prefer to be the boss (unless they are out with an even more aggressively challenging type than themselves), but overall they are not quite as determined to have things their way as a horse with strictly challenging characteristics. They keep careful track of their handling and it is best to do the same when dealing with this type.
The social horse excels in many disciplines, but are especially suited for trick-training and dressage. Both of these occupations depend on a horse's close and consistent communication with his handler or rider. something with which the social horse is naturally comfortable.
Challenging horses excel in jumping, eventing and working cow horse sports.
